Our first landfall in the Marquesas was the island of Fatu Hiva where we anchored in the Bay of Virgins (#1). Our next stop was Baie Tahauku on the island of Hiva Oa (#2) where we obtained our entry permit in the town of Atuona. A day sail to Tahuata (#3) across the Canal du Bordelais brought us to Baie Hanamoenoa, one of the islands most popular anchorages. From there it was off to Nuku Hiva (#4) where we enjoyed the Bastille Day celebrations, anchored in Baie de Taiohae on the southern coast of the island. On our way to the northern coast, we spent a night in Baie d'Haahopu on the northwestern tip of the island. We enjoyed the solitude of being the only boat in the anchorage.
